The handle at some point in its life had the lever handle brazed back on. This was definitely a good reweld because when we got it we put considerable force on the handle trying to figure out how it worked. Before long we took it all apart cleaned out the chips and it runs perfectly smooth now. We also learned about unscrewing the collets from the chuck with the tools pictured in the last picture. The hand star at the front and the butt plug at the rear. Most the time you will be just fine screwing and unscrewing from the front but sometimes, like in our case, where it sat for years and had chips in there, you will need to put a wrench on the rear plug. This plug dose not need to be left in and can be removed to have full size pieces of stock pushed through the collet. We removed this unit off a craftsman lathe but can be put on any lathe with a 1 - 8 tpi thread. We are only demonstrating what it looks like mounted.
